Our Legacy

How a gap in AI credentialing became the reason PAII exists.

2023

Where It Started

In 2023, we noticed a growing problem: organizations were scrambling to implement AI, professionals were scrambling to learn AI, but there was no trusted credential standard to bridge the gap. LinkedIn courses and YouTube tutorials don't signal professional competence to employers. MBAs don't cover AI adequately. Engineering degrees are inaccessible to most working professionals.

PAII was founded in Toronto to solve that problem — to build the professional certification infrastructure for AI, modeled after institutions like the CPA, PMI, and CSI that already define credentialing in their own professions.

From day one, the standard we set for ourselves was simple: build programs rigorous enough to mean something, accessible enough for working professionals, and practical enough to create immediate impact.

Since Then

Where We Are Now

The certification framework is built around ISO 17024-aligned personnel certification standards. The curriculum spans foundational AI literacy through role-specific credentials — AI 101, CAIP, CAIM, CAIE, and CAIDA — shaped by the more than 3,200 professionals who've gone through it.

PAII is still young. We don't have decades of history to point to, and we'd rather be direct about that than overstate it. What we do have is a clear reason for existing, and a track record we're building one certified professional at a time.
